SWAP: Red – Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter

Happy Day 19 or Quarantine! Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Minecraft, watching docuseries on Netflix, bullet journaling, and cleaning my house in an attempt to procrastinate at writing. Yet between all these introverted activities, I neglected my love for sitting down with a good book. I’m hoping I’m able to find my next bingeable series in Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter, by Tracey H. Kitts.

I’ve already downloaded the first book in her seven book series on my phone and started giving it a read. I’m only one chapter in and I’m curious to learn more about her world of lycanthropes. I will admit, it’s a bit slow-going at first (most likely from me having a hard time with first person stories) but I think it’s got the potential to really pull me in.

If you’re looking for some extra spice in your reading without going all the way, this New Adult Paranormal series might be up your alley. Fair warning, it is a reverse harem so there will be a lot of suitors to fall head over heels for. Plus, the ENTIRE SERIES (not just book one – ALL SEVEN) books are on Amazon Kindle for FREE. It really can’t get better than that. So why not get them all and spend the next month stuck in your house reading?

REVIEW/SWAP: Sorceress Awakening

It’s time for another book review and swap. This time, I’m featuring Sorceress Awakening, by Lisa Blackwood, yet another veteran Urban Fantasy author who has published several works for her series A Gargoyle and Sorceress.

This swap and review is special, because all revenue from the first three books of the Gargoyle & Sorceress series will go to purchase seeds and supplies for the propagation of tree seedlings to help combat climate change.

While reading the free sample of this book, I found it hard to turn off my editor/writer brain and let myself enjoy reading. There were a lot of moments where I had to pause and think of what I would change to “improve” the story. Please do not take this as a negative or as a reason to not give this book a chance – it’s worth the read! But I have a lot to say and won’t hold back on my honest thoughts and opinions. So, without further ado, I will dive into writing style, world building, and characterization.

REVIEW/SWAP: “Lucifer Rising”

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since I last posted, thanks to a crazy start to the year. Lots of changes at work have made it tricky to balance my own hobbies. D&D has taken up a large part of my free time thanks to the creativity and social aspect of the game. However, I am slowly making progress on The Art of Falling Sequel when the inspiration strikes; writer’s block has been strong lately. I’ve also started a bullet journal to keep my creative juices flowing! Keep track of that and the rest of my life over at my Instagram.

That being said, I have been missing the relaxation of picking up a good book. I’ve recently joined an Urban Fantasy Writers Facebook group to not only keep me fresh with what’s releasing, but to also get some good reads in. This week, I wanted to share with you a swap that I did with fellow Urban Fantasy author Percival Constantine. He is a veteran who has released several books for his Luther Cross series. However, his newest release Lucifer Rising was the one I was interested in shouting out.

I will preface that I wasn’t able to read nearly as much as I had intended. See: “crazy start to the year” and “D&D has taken up a large part of my free time” as reasons why. However, I did get the chance to read the free sample on Kindle and intend on purchasing the full novel. At this time, my review will be limited to the first few chapters and will focus on character, world building, and writing style. So let’s get into it!
